Central College has a strong relationship with the . Just two blocks away from campus are 15 full-time officers, five reserve officers and seven additional employees. The Pella police are committed to public safety and serving the citizens of Pella, including Central College students. Additionally, the first-rate Pella Volunteer Fire Department and Pella Community Ambulance team are headquartered two blocks from campus with the located less than a mile away.
Safety at Central College is primarily focused around student safety. G4S, an international security company, currently provides over 20,000 hours per week of permanent security services to a myriad of universities, colleges, and institutions of higher education including Central. An officer is on campus Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. – 8 a.m., and 24 hours per day on weekends. Call 641-628-9000 to request assistance at all times. Call 911 in emergencies.
The campus also has trained first responders, staff on call and a one-call number to the information booth for assistance. On campus the one-call assistance number is 4000; off-campus the number is 641-628-9000. For all medical, fire and other emergencies, a call should be made to 911.
Central College has an Emergency Communication and Response Plan that includes a series of emergency teams with on-going training and an emergency communication system. Under the coordination and leadership of the Central Emergency Management Team, teams include the Central Emergency Response, Student Crisis Response, and International Emergency teams. Emergency communication with community members occurs through text messaging, email, and phone calling systems. Team members are convened through the use of an “electronic bridge”. All students are automatically entered into Central’s Emergency Communication system while faculty and staff may elect to join by sending their name and cell phone number to the Dean of Students.
As described in our Welcome Statement: Notice of Nondiscrimination, Central College is committed to sustaining a safe and healthy campus environment where harassment and discrimination are actively discouraged.
